MESSAGE FROM MRS COLLINS

This week year 5 and 6 have entertained the school and their families with their dazzling production of Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies.  For the first time, the performance is outside, set amongst the trees in the forest school, which is the ideal location.   I am full of praise for how hard the children have worked to ensure their performance is the best it can be. Their singing, dancing and timing of the jokes are perfect.

Also many thanks to Mr Godber, Mrs Davey and Mrs Grant who have been truly committed to this production; their enthusiasm and creativity knows no bounds!   A big thank you to all the parents who have made costumes, donated props and helped their children learn their lines.  What a top team!

Stay safe in the very hot weather.

All best wishes

Mrs Collins and the Sandfield staff team

NEWS FROM THE CLASSROOMS

RECEPTION CLASS

This week Reception Class have been exploring in all the areas and choosing what they would like to do. We have had ballerinas and scuba divers, playing with the water, sandpit and mud kitchen. They have enjoyed paddling in the water tray to keep them nice and cool and being creative inside and out with colouring and making things.

YEAR 1 & YEAR 2

As part of our topic learning about Peru, Year 1 and 2 have tasted and described a variety of exotic fruits. The children particularly enjoyed tasting the passion fruit and surprisingly some said that lime was their favourite! We also developed our culinary skills, making an upside down pineapple cake, which the children said it was delicious!

YEAR 3 & YEAR 4

It’s all about Egyptians this week in Year 3 and Year 4!

We are coming to final pages of The Secret of the Sun King – will the children manage to get the jar back to its rightful resting place? Will Howard Carter get the glory of finding the treasures? One more chapter to go! The children (and the adults!) have so enjoyed this book – a great find!

The model shadufs are almost done, pyramid fact files have been researched, branching keys investigated in science and creative playdough used to model in History.

Despite being very hot and bothered, the children have worked so hard and kept their cool. Well done everyone! A great week of learning!
