COMMUNITY GOVERNORS
Sandfield Primary School in central Guildford is currently looking for two new community governors. The school is in a very stable position, having received a ‘good’ grading from Ofsted in July 2022, being fully subscribed and benefitting from a very experienced and well-embedded senior leadership team. Sandfield is a delightful school, often described as the ‘village school in the heart of the town centre’.
As a governor, you will:
  • be instrumental in working with the headteacher to set the school’s strategy;
  • you will help to ensure that the school continues in robust financial health – always keeping children and education as the financial priorities;
  • and you will be the school’s critical friend, raising your voice in support of children from disadvantaged backgrounds, or for those who have special educational needs.
In return, you will receive access to really effective training and support through Learning Partners Academy Trust, of which Sandfield is a member. You will be part of a strong and diverse team, with decades’ worth of governing experience between them and who demonstrate a friendly, supportive and collegiate approach to all their work. The governing body is supported by an efficient, knowledgeable and experienced governance professional (clerk).
At this time, Sandfield is particularly keen to hear from potential or experienced governors who are interested in leadership, either as Vice-Chair or Chair of the board.
