Sports Fixtures 2025-2026

Sandfield Sporting Fixtures Are Underway!
Upper Key Stage 2 children have kicked off the term with enthusiasm, training hard for a range of sporting events including cross-country, netball, and football. During PE lessons and lunchtime sessions, pupils have embraced the challenge of completing either 15 or 30 laps around our newly designed playground. After measuring the perimeter of both netball courts, we discovered that 30 laps equals 2 kilometres—exactly the distance required for the upcoming cross-country races!

Year 5 & 6 Dodgeball Tournament 15/01/2026
Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 Dodgeball Team for achieving 2nd place and winning silver medals.
The team displayed lightning-fast reactions, outstanding hand-eye coordination, and smart strategies that led them to an incredible victory in 12 out of 15 games, competing against 10 other Guildford schools at The Spectrum yesterday.
What a fantastic effort from everyone involved – we are so proud of you!

Girls Football Tournament 21/11/2025
It was a cold winter evening when we walked onto the pitch, all of us feeling excited and a little bit nervous. It was the first inter-school tournament for most of us!
The first match was tough because we were still trying to figure out our positions. Luckily Mia was in top form and didn’t concede any goals. By the second match, we were much more confident and had good possession of the ball. Nina and Takondwa, our strikers, had lots of shots on goal. We drew, which wasn’t a bad result. The third match against Burpham was hard. A corner kick went to one of their players and they scored a goal. Against St Joseph’s we pulled our socks up – we came back onto the pitch feeling confident and believed we could score. Surprisingly, we scored two goals instead of one! Our defenders, Alyssa and Annabelle were also doing a great job keeping the ball away from our goal.
In our final league match against Holy Trinity, the team were now feeling confident. Some good passes from Cumi and Ines in midfield, helped us secure another goal. At the end of the five matches we were first in our league, which meant we were through to the final! The final match was really nerve racking. We were cold, tired and excited all at once. We fought hard to keep the score at 0-0 and managed to take the game to penalties. Nina, Ines and Mia were our penalty takers. We were unlucky to lose on penalties, but we were still proud to come second out of all the Guildford schools.

Boys Football Tournament 07/11/2025
On Friday 7th November, the Sandfield Football Squad proudly represented our school at the Guildford Schools Football Tournament. This annual event is always a challenging fixture, with many opposing teams featuring experienced club-level players.
Despite the tough competition, our boys showed tremendous resilience and teamwork. They defended with determination and attacked with confidence, working cohesively throughout each match. Sandfield managed to draw 2 out of 5 games, conceding only 5 goals across the tournament—a commendable achievement!
A heartfelt thank you to the families who came to cheer from the side-lines, and to Kate Oliver and Mike Cuin for their invaluable support. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience and demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and team spirit.

Cross Country Competition 02/10/2025
A huge congratulations to our incredible Year 5 and 6 cross country team! Competing in their second race of the season, every child showed outstanding determination and team spirit. They tackled the challenging two-kilometre course with grit and enthusiasm, and we’re thrilled to share that many achieved personal bests along the way.
Well done, Team Sandfield — we’re so proud of you!

Netball with Surrey Storm 19/09/2025
On Friday 19/09/2025, our netball squad had an exciting opportunity to train with the head coach of Surrey Storm Netball at Surrey Sports Park. The children tackled advanced drills and then played in mixed-school teams, gaining valuable experience and confidence on the court.
Cross Country Competition 18/09/2025
Last Thursday, our cross-country squad took on a particularly tough course featuring steep climbs, rocky terrain, and narrow paths. With over 60 runners in each race, our Sandfield team performed really well. Several Year 6 pupils achieved personal bests, and all our Year 5 runners completed the course—some even finishing in the top 20! We’re incredibly proud of every child who took part in this challenging event. A huge thank you to the parents who came along to cheer on the team, and to Mrs Payne for accompanying the squad—your support makes all the difference!
