Music
At Sandfield, we take great pride in our music provision, designed to spark a lifelong love of music and singing in our children.
Using our bespoke Charanga Music Scheme and integrated technology, pupils explore a wide variety of songs and genres. They actively develop their singing voices, engage in body percussion and learn to play classroom instruments with confidence. Children also have opportunities to compose music using percussion, tuned instruments and digital software.
Performance is a key part of our musical life. Pupils regularly showcase their talents at school events, with our popular choir performing throughout the year and at the Surrey Primary Singing Festival at G Live. Sandfield also has a Year 5 + 6 stringed orchestra, which practice weekly and play at concerts and events across the school year. Weekly music assemblies unite the whole school in singing songs from diverse cultures, genres, and eras.
Music Lessons
- In Year 4, every child learns a stringed instrument through our partnership with Guildford Grammar School.
- Rocksteady band leaders offer in-school band lessons (paid for by parents). To sign up, please contact them directly here.
- Violin and cello lessons are available from Surrey Arts at a cost to parents. Please contact them directly here.
