Dear Parents and Carers,

YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL TRIP TO HIGH ASHURST 2024

We are delighted to inform you that we have arranged for Year 6 (current Year 5) to participate in a residential trip to High Ashurst in Dorking in July 2024.
The 3 day and 2 night stay will be held from Wednesday 3rd July to Friday 5th July 2024. This trip brings with it a host of exciting opportunities that will enhance the children’s learning.

This stay will introduce the children to various team and individual challenges which will be all based in the High Ashurst grounds. This will be an excellent way to end their time at Sandfield and will actually take place in the last month of the academic year. At night, the children will be organised in cabins and qualified instructors will assist the children through the day with team building and physical challenges such as orienteering, rope challenges and climbing. In the evening, more activities will be provided where the children will be able to enjoy night walks, and camp fire building (weather permitting). In addition to these activities, the children will be eating all meals at the centre. The children will be given the responsibility of serving, tidying and cleaning up after themselves and their peers both in the eating areas and in their overnight accommodation.

The total voluntary contribution for this Residential is approximately £220 and it will be possible to pay in instalments, further information will be sent out as soon as the deadline for the deposit ends. This amount includes all meals (all dietary requirements can be catered for), accommodation, specialist equipment and activities.

Our aim is for all pupils to participate in this residential. We are able to help all pupils who are in receipt of Free School Meals and/ or Pupil Premium. Parents will need to make an appointment with Mrs Lidstrom to discuss what help is available and also discuss a payment plan for any contributions.  In addition to this, if any other family is experiencing financial difficulty and would like to discuss payment of this trip then please contact Mrs Lucy Lidstrom, our home school link worker, either via the school office or email HSLW@sandfield.surrey.sch.uk, ahead of the deadline date. We are hoping to receive sufficient contributions which will enable this residential to go ahead.

To confirm a place for your child, an initial non-refundable deposit of £20.00 will need to be paid on or before Monday 26th June 2023. If you are experiencing difficulty in paying this deposit, please contact Mrs Lidstrom as above. There will be facilities to set up a payment plan to suit your family on the online payment system and details of this will be sent out after the deposit deadline. Payments can be made at any time online via Scopay. Please can we ask that parents and carers contribute the deposit only until we can confirm the final amount of places with the Activity Centre. There will be a meeting in the next academic year, which we urge all parents and carers to attend to find out more about this residential. Mrs Lidstrom will also be in attendance. Details of the exact date will follow in due course.

We are sure that the children are going to find this an exciting, interesting and worthwhile residential trip in beautiful surroundings.

Many thanks in advance for your support.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Kate Collins
