Pupil Behaviour at Sandfield
At Sandfield, we believe that children learn best when they feel safe, happy and ready to learn. Our approach to behaviour is built around three simple expectations: Ready, Respectful and Safe.
We have a consistent approach to recognising and celebrating children who demonstrate these expectations. Positive behaviour is noticed and praised throughout the school, helping children to understand that being ready to learn, showing respect and making safe choices are valued and appreciated.
We also recognise that children make mistakes and sometimes need support to make better choices. Our approach is clear, consistent and fair, giving children opportunities to understand expectations, take responsibility for their choices and put things right.
Where behaviour does not meet our expectations, we follow our Behaviour Steps. These provide a consistent approach across school and give children opportunities to stop, think, reflect and make positive changes.
Our aim is not simply to manage behaviour but to teach children the skills they need to make positive choices, manage themselves and resolve difficulties. We want children to understand that their behaviour has an impact on themselves and others and that they can learn from mistakes and make things right.
We believe that working in partnership with parents and carers is an important part of supporting positive behaviour. Where concerns arise, we will communicate with families and work together to identify the best ways to support each child.
We all have the right to feel safe, happy and ready to learn — and we all have a responsibility to help make this happen.
