Online Safety

At Sandfield School, we recognise that technology is an integral part of our pupils’ learning and everyday lives. As an Apple Distinguished School, we use technology creatively and purposefully to enhance learning, while ensuring that pupils understand how to use it safely, responsibly and respectfully.

SMART online instructions

Online safety is an important part of our safeguarding provision. We teach pupils how to recognise risks, protect their personal information, make responsible choices online and know what to do if something worries or concerns them.

Our expectations for the safe and responsible use of technology are supported by our iPad Rules and SMART Rules, which all pupils are expected to follow. These are reinforced regularly through our curriculum, assemblies and wider safeguarding work.

We also have appropriate systems in place to support the filtering and monitoring of online activity and to help identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.

Parents and carers play an important role in keeping children safe online. We encourage families to talk regularly with their children about their online experiences and to set clear expectations around device use, apps, games and social media.
